Bright and whimsical, a perfect card to create a happy mail day for someone special.

I LOVE this shaker card project! It is so quick and easy! I was literally playing around with a box full of new stamping goodies from a friend and came up with this fun, whimsical design.  It is perfect for any occasion and any level of crafter.    The fun part of this design is the super simple shaker window on this card.  It is made with something totally unconventional…. A coin flip.  You may be asking “What is a coin flip?”  (And no, it doesn’t have anything to do with how you decide who kicks or receives.  Lol.)

Endless Possibilities

A coin flip is what they seal collectible coins in to keep them protected from fingerprints and the like.  As soon as I saw it I wondered why I hadn’t thought of this sooner!  This technique could be used on not only a thank you as pictured here but birthday cards, wedding, new baby, congratulations, get well, thinking of you and just hello to brighten someone’s day.  Not to mention ANY holiday you can think of.

Here’s an example with a wintery feel.

Perfect for Newbies

New to crafting, cardmaking or rubber stamping?  This card only needs ONE rubber stamp!  Add a quartet of ink pads, a blending brush, basic white cardstock, filler for your shaker window and you will have everything you need to get started. If you don’t have a die cutting device like a Cuttlebug, Sizzix or a Cricut don’t worry!   You will just need to cut your own stencil by hand or remove the plastic from a few of the coin flips to create the circle technique in the video below.

Craft Night Anyone?

Once you have your supplies you can make a ton of these cards inexpensively with a multitude of variations. It would be fun to plan a craft night around this project.  Everyone could chip in and share the supplies.   You are only limited by your imagination!

Sent this “sweet” card to one of my second grade students during remote teaching.

Happy Stamping

Once the “Stamping Bug” bites there’s no turning back. Rubber stamping was how I got my start in crafting for a living (or as supplemental income).  See more about that here.  The stamping community is as generous as it is big.  Do some research and you won’t be disappointed I promise.    Here is a post you might enjoy showing how to make a light up card. I also have some great card making tips and tricks featured in this video. I can’t wait to see your creations!  Please share them on social media with the #kimsdiytribe or join us over at our Facebook group
